Sam Bankman-Fried, commonly known by his initials SBF, is an American entrepreneur who was founder and CEO of FTX, a cryptocurrency exchange. SBF was initially praised as a young investor, with his net worth peaking at an estimated $26 billion USD.

Following the November 2022 collapse of FTX, SBF was arrested in the Bahamas and extradited to the US. He was charged with securities fraud, money laundering, and several other charges. FTX has since been criticized as a pyramid scheme, with SBF himself being compared to Bernie Madoff. SBF is currently imprisoned while awaiting trial.
