Do Kwon is the South Korean co-founder of Singapore-based Terraform Labs, which gained worldwide media attention in May 2022 after its stablecoin TerraUSD and cryptocurrency Luna collapsed. The Terra/Luna collapse wiped out nearly $45 billion of market capitalization in one week, causing billions of losses for investors.
South Korean courts issued a warrant for Do Kwon in September 2022, but he evaded police until March 2023 at which point he was arrested trying to leave Montenegro with falsified documents. Do Kwon was subsequently charged in the US with securities fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy, and several other counts.
