Vitalik Buterin

Vitalik Buterin is the creator of Ethereum and co-founder/former CTO of the Ethereum Foundation. Buterin has also been involved in several other cryptocurrency projects, including the creation of blockchain platform Polkadot.

Buterin took an early interest in crytocurrency and began writing for Bitcoin publications as far back as 2011, including Bitcoin Weekly and Bitcoin Magazine. He first described Ethereum in November 2013, arguing that Bitcoin lacked a scripting language required for application development.

Members of the crypto community sometimes joke that Blizzard Entertainment inspired Ethereum, as Vitalik famously stated that his desire to create a decentralized currency came after his World of Warcraft character was nerfed by a patch.
