Wei Dai is a computer engineer known for his contributions to cryptocurrency’s advancements. He was a member of the Cypherpunks and later created Crypto++, a free and open-source library of cryptographic algorithms that have been widely adopted. Along with Hal Finney and Adam Back, Dai was also one of the first individuals to receive an email from Satoshi Nakamoto.

Dai currently served as a research partner at 1kx, where he focuses on research and development of cryptographic protocols and blockchain infrastructure.

Could Wei Dai be Satoshi?

While Wei Dai certainly possesses the technical ability to be Satoshi, it is highly unlikely considering that Satoshi contacted him to cite Dai’s 1998 page on b-money. Wei Dai is a private person, and not much is known about his personal life or career.
